Borgan Tanner
1928-2022
At the age of 93, Borgon Tanner (born Brady Martin Boyles) passed away
peacefully on August 25th, 2022 at Wauklehegan Manor in McAdam, NB. He
was predeceased by his brother, Carl Robert Boyles, and his wife of 63
years Meta Tanner (born Martha Lou Miner).
Borgon is survived by his son Martin L. Boyles (Harvey, NB), daughter
Meghaen (Meg) L. Wallace (nee Boyles) (St. John’s, NL) and his
nephew, Timothy Boyles (Karen) (Etna, Ohio).
Born October 3rd, 1928 in Clarksburg West Virginia, USA, Borgon held
degrees in Documentary Photography and Geology from the University of
Ohio. With a lifelong interest in people, languages, geology, nature,
photography, railroads, literature and history, Borgon could discuss a
wide range of topics with anyone he met and his descriptive stories
were legendary. This wide range of interests led him to many careers
– as a Map Instructor with the US Army; a Photographer for the
Ohio State Department of Health; a Materials Inspector for the West
Virginia Department of Transportation; Fireman for steam locomotives
on both the Baltimore & Ohio and the East Broad Top Railroads
(US); Substitute Teacher in various Elementary schools (US);
Bookmobile Driver for a library (US); Historical Interpreter (Justice
of the Peace, General Store Proprietor) at King’s Landing
Historical Settlement in Lower Prince William, NB; and a contributing
writer for several US publications.
Martin and Meg would like to extend sincere thanks to close family
friends (April Brewer and Crystal Monroe) for their kindness and
compassion shown to both Borgon and Meta throughout the years. And to
the caring health care team at both the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital
(4th Floor) in Fredericton, NB and Wauklehegan Manor in McAdam, NB –
thank you for your professionalism, caring and compassion towards
Borgon and our family during the last 9 months.
At this time, there is no scheduled service or memoriam. If you wish,
any memorial or charitable donations may be made to a charity of your
choice.
