Obituary
McCormick, Robert William “Bob”
It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Bob McCormick on Friday August 12, 2022, at the Brantford General Hospital in his 87th year. Bob is predeceased by his first wife Vi McCormick (Steinman) (2003) and his second wife Doreen (McCarville, Dorsey) (Feb 2022). Bob was the cherished father of Cathy McCormick of Paris, Jeff McCormick (Shelley) of Paris, Tim McCormick (Lynn) of Crystal Beach. Respected and dearly loved by his grandchildren Josh, Sam (Shauna), Zach, Doug (Katie), Dawn (Jeff), Janelle and Rebecca (Yann). Bob will be lovingly remembered by his sisters Mary Lou Armstrong (the late Bill and Jordan Morris) and Joyce (Don) Zinger and sister-in-law Patricia McCormick. Predeceased by his parents William and Marie (Walter), brothers LaValle, Fred, Ken (the late Edna), Jim (Patricia) and his sister Anne Nowak (the late Bernie).
Bob had a lengthy and rewarding career in the farm equipment industry, beginning as a warehouse shipper at New Idea Farm Equipment in Waterloo in 1961. His career took him and the family to Ottawa in 1965 and then to Brantford in 1967, where lifelong friendships were formed. A promotion to General Sales Manager in 1982, took him to Coldwater, Ohio where again lifelong relationships were made. In 1984, after the company became White – New Idea, Bob and family returned to Brantford with Bob in the position of Canadian Regional Sales Director. In 1989, he joined Hardi Inc. in London Ontario, as Canadian Sales Manager, retiring in 1998.
Bob was a long-time coach and executive member of the Brantford Minor Hockey Association and coached in the Brantford Minor Baseball Association.
He was a dedicated member and volunteer of the St. Pius Church Community, a long-time volunteer for the Canadian Diabetes Association and formerly sat on the Resident and Family Council at the John Noble Home.
He and Vi travelled the world with his work on annual company trips, family vacations and then together in their motorhome belonging to various motor home clubs. He and his second wife, Doreen also had plenty of travelling adventures on extended motorhome caravans, finally settling in a park in Florida where they spent numerous winters.
Dad had a smile for everyone he met. Quick comebacks and a sense of humour were his trademark. Family was always first in our father’s life and friends were vital. Dad lived his life supporting his church, his community and those in need. Thank you for setting the example for all of us. Your strong and unwavering presence will be missed by many. Keep smiling Dad.
Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at St. Pius Church, on Friday August 19th at 11 am, interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations to Diabetes Canada or the Alzheimer Society of Brant are appreciated.
