Blanka Done (nee Vanecek) passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 27th at Caressant Care Nursing Home in Harriston. Blanka was a loving and devoted grandmother, mother, and friend.
Blanka was born on August 1, 1934 in Metkovik, in the former Yugoslavia. She immigrated to Canada in 1965 and resided in Mississauga where she spent the majority of her life, until moving to Harriston in 2020. Blanka was a fiercely proud Canadian who had a passion for travel and immersing herself in different cultures. Her love for travel and ability to speak several languages took her around the globe. Her happy place was Riley Lake in Muskoka where she spent and cherished her summers with her close family.
Beloved mother of her late daughter Susan Hughes. She is also predeceased by her husband John (Jack) Done, former husband Ivan Jelen, her father Stanislov, her mother Tereza Kilma, and her brother Zdenek Vanecek.
Blanka is survived by her niece Blanka (son Jon Boic) and husband Janez Govednik; as well as her son-in-law Michael Hughes, and her two granddaughters Jessica and Lauren Hughes who will miss her very dearly. All of these she inspired and touched deeply.
Blanka will be interred peacefully with her beloved daughter Susan at Springcreek Cemetery in Mississauga.
