Obituary of Bill Gaboury
Gaboury, Jules André William (Bill)
Dad passed away on Tuesday May 24, 2022 after enjoying a family dinner at the tender age of 91. Dad is now reunited with mom (Gloria) his bride of 70 years who he missed so much (November 2021). Also, predeceased by son Paul.
Dad will forever be missed by son Bruce (Denise), daughter Debbie Crowe (Trent), grandfather to Nicole (Ryan), Greg, Sarah (Justin), Kayla (John) and great granddaughter Auzlyn. Dad will always be in the hearts of Denise’s children Danielle (Lance) and Michelle (Andrew) and Denise’s grandchildren Lili, Lilah, and Lexi. Survived by sister in law Maggie Horne.
Dad is predeceased by his parents Emile and Blanche Gaboury, sisters Madeleine (Doug), Theresa (Charles), Jeanne and Pauline (Jimmy). His brothers Morris (Lilian), Philip (Rose), and Charles (Isabel).
Dad was a lover of books, an avid daily reader of a newspaper, enjoyed a good documentary but most of all he loved any opportunity to have a great conversation. Always a bit of a twinkle in his eye and mischievous smile, dad could tell the best stories of his former workmates, but especially stories of his childhood antics that he and his brothers would get into on the family farm.
Dad retired from Inco after 33 years. While raising their boy’s dad was very active in Scouting as a leader for almost two decades and District Commissioner as well. They adopted their girl at age 5 and their family was complete. Mom and Dad enjoyed several decades at their home on Lakeshore Rd. Spending countless hours on yard work and always helping each other with their projects. Lakeshore Road will always hold so many memories for all of us.
After retirement mom and dad enjoyed traveling Canada, Florida and Seneca lake. Dad also enjoyed many years working alongside Bruce in their construction company. Dad was that person you sought out at a gathering because you knew the conversation would be deep, thoughtful and interesting. He always made sure you knew how important you were to him and so grateful for every effort made for him. Dad was a gentleman, full of class, so respected, fair, honest and kind. If you were privileged to be part of his life you were better for it. Friends and family have described mom and dad in the past few days “the sweetest couple”, “they adored each other”, “we loved the playful banter between your parents, they were so cute, always holding hands”.
Dad you will always be the wind beneath our wings, once again holding mom’s hand.
Special thanks for the responding Paramedics, Welland Fire and Niagara Regional Police for your care and compassion.
In keeping with dad’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Internment of mom and dad will be a private gathering with immediate family. Arrangements are entrusted to the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
