Obituary
William George Rambow
Bill passed away peacefully on February 21, 2022 with his wife Jean and his sons Trevor and Todd by his side at the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home.
Bill was born in Regina, SK on March 30, 1936 to Marguerite and George Rambow. He grew up in Hodgeville most of his younger life and attended Hodgeville School. His last two years of schooling, Bill attended Campion College in Regina.
Bill married Jean on November 7, 1964 and in 1968 our firstborn son Trevor was born in Gravelbourg, SK and in 1969, our second son Todd was born in Castor, AB.
Bill worked at various occupations. Once we were married, he accepted a position with the Co-op and retired with the Co-op. He made various moves with the Co-op taking us to Coronation, AB, then on to Central Butte, SK to Salmon Arm. BC and our final move to Ste. Rose du Lac, MB where we resided until he retired. Bill made many lasting memories with each move.
Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing and had very good memories with all of his friends. His last few years spent on fishing trips up north with his sons where they shared lots of laughs and stories. He still talked about going again when he wasn’t well. They also took a few road trips back to his old stomping grounds.
When Bill retired, he took up wood working and spent many hours with his hobby. He worked on many projects for the Dr. Gendreau Activities department and made many gifts for his grandchildren and friends. Bill was very particular with his wood work.
We did a lot more camping after he retired spending many years camping at Manipogo as well a few trips camping with the family. He was the best fire builder around!
Bill enjoyed his grandchildren very much. His granddaughters would give him fancy hairdos and very colorful painted toe nails and fingernails. He enjoyed all of the attention. Bill enjoyed taking his grandsons to the coffee shop to meet the gang. He enjoyed his coffee breaks with his friends and the girls at the coffee shops., he would always come home with some stories. Bill never quite knew what he would find on his truck as he left the hotel coffee shop as the girls decorated his truck up often. Bill enjoyed having a good time and he loved to joke around, right up to his final days he had his sense of humour.
Bill was predeceased by his parents Marguerite and George Rambow, his stepmother Christina , his brother-in-law Gary Hagley, his sister-in-law Lynn Hagley along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife of 57 years Jean, his sons; Trevor (Colette) and their children Desirae and Sara, Todd (Sharon) and their children Acacia, Orin, Hunter and Willow. He will be sadly missed by his only brother Ralph (Sue) and their 3 daughters, his brothers-in-law Brian (Linda), Dayle (Carol), Kevin (Bonnie) and his sisters-in-law Cheryl (Richard), Jeannet (Don) and Joan as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. O’Hagan and the hospital staff for their loving care. To the Dr. Gendreau Memorial Home staff for all of the loving care and thoughtful things you did for Bill to make his final days special. He had special angels that he adored in both places.
A special thank you to Arne and Lorna for the special time you spent with Bill and myself. Bill would just call and Arne never missed a day bringing Bill his coffee. Our special neighbors who helped us out every step of the way Larry and Sharon. God made sure we both had special angels by our side during his illness and final days. To all of our dear friends who were always dropping off food and donations of goodies and to all of our family who were just a phone call away. A huge thanks to Ryan for his help with Bill’s funeral arrangements.
As per Bill’s instructions, cremation has taken place . Funeral Service for Bill will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 3:00 PM in the Ste. Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church. Fr. Patrick Neufeld will officiate. Interment will take place at a future date.
