Beverly Marie Holmes (nee Ketcheson)
We are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Bev, on February 5, 2022, in her 76th year. Beloved wife of Leonard for 55 years. Loving mother to Kimberly (Kevin), Andrea (Gord), and Aaron (Sarah). Cherished grandmother to Greer (Dan), Emily, Keith, Daniel, Kai, Cameron, and Micah.
Bev was born in Madoc Township on May 27, 1946. She attended Burris Public School, and high school in Madoc.
She married her love, Len Holmes, at Hazzard’s Corners Church on July 31, 1966 and were the last couple married there while it was still an active church, and later to be recognized as an historic site. The next 40 years was spent in Oshawa where Bev raised 3 children, volunteered at their school, worked for Oshawa PUC, and was very active at Centennial Albert United Church. Bev loved to sing and sang in church choir and with the County Town Singers in Whitby.
Amazingly at 42, Bev went back to Durham College to become a Registered Nurse. She graduated in 1992 on the Dean’s list. For the next 12 years she worked at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, on the Labour and Delivery floor, helping to bring many new babies into the world.
In 2000, Bev and Len moved back to Madoc and she quickly became very active at Trinity United Church, both volunteering and in the choir, before becoming their Parish Nurse, visiting many in the community.
She was a vibrant Lady, of many talents, who left us far too soon……
A small family only service will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held at Hazzard’s Corners Church later in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heart of Hastings Hospice in Bev’s much loved Madoc at www.canadahelps.org.
