Obituary
Long, Beverly Jean
It is with deep sorrow, the family announces the sudden but peaceful passing of Bev at the age of 87 on Monday, October 31st in her home. She was a loving, devoted, and selfless wife, mother, and grandmother. She leaves behind her loving husband Clare Long, her children Terry Long (Peter Sheppard), Dan Long and Greg (Christine) Long as well as cherished grandchildren Jordan, Grace, Gavin, Dana, Brogan Long and Tangi Stewart.
The daughter of George and Ona King, Bev was born and raised with her brother Stephen King in Niagara Falls. She was a graduate of McMaster University and went to Toronto Teachers’ College in Toronto. She met the love of her life while working at Geneva Park in 1955 and married in 1959. They settled in Orillia, where she taught physical education for a few years at the local high schools. She was actively involved with the family business, the Hammock Harbour RV Park. She was an active member of the University Women’s club and past president of the Orillia Y’s Menettes. Her greatest source of fulfilment was watching the growth and achievements of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing tennis and golf and loved playing bridge with her friends.
Following cremation, visitation will be held at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St. N., Orillia on Sunday November 6, 2022 from 1:00 PM until time of Memorial Service at 2:30 PM. Reception to follow. If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Federation of University Women (Orillia) Scholarship Fund would be appreciated.
