Obituary of Betty Moses
MOSES, Mary Elizabeth (Betty)
My sweet Mum, born December 28, 1922, finished her life on earth January 13th, 2022, in her 100th year. She will now be with her best friend and husband Robert Moses (Bob); her much loved son Kent; and special twin Alfie.
From her beginnings on the farm (with no utilities) in Chepstow, PEI, she made a life in Hamilton, ON. She had struggles there but, raised my brother and me with lots of love as a single parent before meeting Bob, who adored her. Mum was a tailor and seamstress, taught by her mother Vinie. Both women made clothes for weddings, special occasions and their own children. She made a lovely winter coat and pant set for me. I still remember it. Mum worked as a seamstress for Hamilton General Hospital until retirement.
Betty was a happy person, with a fun sense of humour. She was so easy to love. She was an excellent cook and baker & loved to go dancing and have a beer at the Legion with Bob. She treated her step-daughters’ like her own and showed them lots of love. Mum would talk to people living on the street, supported them and knew some by name, which gave Bob concern since he was a policeman, but she wasn’t worried. She always noticed you and would compliment your clothes and unique features, telling those who cared for her how beautiful they were. Parkstone staff loved her humour, looked forward to her next comment, (i.e., you’ve lost weight dear, or you have a cute button nose). She was with them for 8 years. Bob and Betty drove to Myrtle beach twice a year, enjoying the beach and the country music hall. He had everything organized and did all the driving, mum never got a license. She said, “why do I need one when I have someone to drive me!”. They spent a month at our cottage in St Catherine’s PEI adding to their beach days. They went to Scotland with the Police Pipe Band and had a ball.
She is survived by her daughter Gale Dempsey, daughter-in-law Sherry (Stu), step-daughters’ Carol, Lorna and Donna. Also, special grandchildren Michael (Andrea), Ashley (Andrew), Jason (Faron), Dave Brown (Tracey).
She will be laid to rest with Bob at White Chapel in Hamilton at a later date. Donations to a Homeless Shelter in your community in her name would be appreciated.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Betty
