Betty Marie (Saunders) Hanley
1956-2022
Unexpectedly at her residence on April 30, 2022, Mrs. Betty
Marie (Saunders) Hanley, beloved wife of G. Ross Hanley of Back Bay
NB. Born at Saint John NB on March 12, 1956, she was a daughter of the
late George and Lillian (King) Saunders.
A loving wife, mother, stepmother grandmother and sister, she
is survived by her husband Ross, her beloved son: Troy
Saunders (Laura Fudge); step sons: William Hanley of Back Bay NB and
Garry Hanley (Amanda Harmon) of St. George; her step daughter: Leta
(Fred) Brennan of St. George NB; her beloved grandchildren: Arielle,
Madaline, Jackson, Athena and Ayla; brothers: George Saunders of Saint
John NB and Jimmy (Hazel) Saunders of Smithtown NB; her sisters: Helen
Lynch (Ernest Hatt) of St. George NB, Cathy Lemoine of Quispamsis NB
and June Reid of Saint John NB as well as several, nieces, nephews and
cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her twin
sister in infancy as well as her much beloved granddaughter
Cadence.
Prior to her failing health, Betty worked years ago at Point
Lepreau as a laborer. She then moved to St. George where she owned and
operated Daly’s Convenience for a number of years, where she met her
husband Ross. Her and Ross then moved to Back Bay where she helped
Ross in his fishing business and then began working for Kindred Care
where she cared for many area seniors, whom she truly cared for with
passion.
In earlier years when her health allowed her to, Betty used
to enjoy traveling with Ross to Florida to their winter haven and
spending time there with friends. Recently she enjoyed the simple
pleasures such as enjoying her home on the water and the nature around
it, her games on her computer, and the company of her beloved Ross and
her companion Kiwi. She will be sadly missed by her family and all who
knew her.
In keeping with Betty’s wishes, there will be no visiting or
service. A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at the Royal
Canadian Legion Branch # 40 on Saturday, May 14, 2022 from 2-4 pm. In
Betty’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be
appreciated by the family.
