The Turpin family wish to announce the departure of our beloved mother, Bettina Joy Turpin, on February 24, 2022, from this life to be with her Lord and Saviour. Born Jan. 17th, 1930, on the Isle of Wight, England, she was the daughter of the late Ralph George Havelock Salter and Lucy Elfrieda Salter. Tina was a registered nurse and midwife in England before coming to Canada. In the aftermath of WWII, she was involved in the Woman’s Agricultural Land Army. She actively supported her late husband’s ministry including being involved in the Christian School, Sunday School, Awana, Choir, and WMS. Tina enjoyed watching yachts in the Solent during her time on the Isle of Wight, bird watching, sewing, and gardening. She was a godly and spiritual woman, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by daughters, Ruth (Daniel) Jacquard, Chebogue Point; Rachel Turpin, Chebogue; sons, Timothy (Karen), Yarmouth; John (Cathy), Chebogue; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and brother-in-law Ted. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Rev. Peter Turpin; brothers, Ted, and Ian. There will be a public visitation Monday, February 28, 2022, from 7-9 pm at Sweeny’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 2 pm from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Tim Turpin officiating. A funeral webcast will be available on Sweeny’s Funeral Home website, for those who are unable to attend. Interment in the Chegoggin Cemetery TBA. In place of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith Memorial Baptist Church, or HATS-Haiti(Hands Across The Sea) at either www.hatshaiti.org/ or through the Yarmouth Wesleyan church office.
