Bessie grew up in Hainesville and at the young age of 16 started
teaching school in Caverhill, NB and continued until she met her
charming, handsome American who was here deer hunting. Her brother
George was his hunting guide. Once introduced, it was love at first
sight for both, engaged at 17 and married at 18. Moved to Brockton,
Mass. where they built their first home and raised their five
children. In 1979 they retired to Riley Brook, NB. Her husband Joe
always bragged that he had his own ‘Canadian” Elizabeth
Taylor. He also joked that he came to NB hunting 4-legged deer but
ended up with his 2-legged dear and has been paying the
“Price” ever since.
A service will follow on September 24, 2022 at 2 pm at St.
Paul’s Anglican Church in Zealand, NB where they were married
and where all of their children were baptized.
For those who wish to make a donation in Bessie’s memory, St.
Paul’s Anglican Cemetery (make cheques payable to Anglican
Parish of Bright) has been suggested.
