Bert Elliott MacNabb
November 13, 1947 – December 8, 2022
Following a lengthy battle with complicated health struggles, Bert MacNabb passed peacefully at the age of 75 with family by his side. Bert was born on November 13th, 1947 to Freda and Foster MacNabb in Pictou, Nova Scotia.
By his side until the end, Bert is survived by his loving wife Louise (MacDonald) with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. He will be lovingly remembered by his three children Larry (Sharon), Cindy (Justin), and Cheryl (Rick); grandchildren Alexander, Gavin, Cassie, Ryan, Emma, Victoria, Abby and Amanda; sisters Cathe (Brian), Susan Jane (Roy), Lynn (Mark) and many nieces and nephews.
After graduating from St. Francis Xavier University with a B.Sc. in Geology, Bert went on to receive his M.Sc. at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Bert enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the Mining Industry which took him all over the world. An intrepid explorer, Bert thoroughly enjoyed his time abroad and loved sharing animated tales about his many adventures and the dear friends he made along the way. Upon retirement, Bert happily retired to his hometown of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia so that he could easily spend time at his cherished cottage on Big Island.
Special thanks to the medical staff at the Intensive Care and Palliative Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital for the loving care and support they provided.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 17th at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home ( 256 King Street, New Glasgow, NS) from 2pm-4pm immediately followed by words of remembrance. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bert may be made to the Aberdeen Health Foundation.
