Bernice MacLean of Albert Bridge, NS, peacefully passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a short illness.
Born in Louisbourg on October 18, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Donald John and Gladys (Hunt) MacIntyre.
She was a very proud retired Registered Nurse and a member of Union Presbyterian Church, Albert Bridge. She enjoyed travelling in earlier years but was always happiest when she was at home on the beautiful Mira River listening for loon calls.
Bernice had a beautiful caring heart and always strove to help those she was closest to and anyone in need. She always knew how to bring a smile to others and had a wonderful sense of humour.
Bernice is survived by her son, Earle MacLean; daughter, Gina MacLean; and granddaughter, Naomi Colford, who was her pride and joy. She was especially proud that Naomi chose to follow in her footsteps and become a Registered Nurse. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Bernice was predeceased by her beloved husband, Calvin; sisters, Georgena and Florence; and brothers, Charles, Vernon, Alvin, Truman, and Donald.
The family would like to thank Dr. Greg Myatt, Janice Black and receptionist, Laura for their excellent care and attention over the years. Also special thanks to the staff of 4C at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their wonderful support and care during her recent illness.
A graveside service will take place in Willow Grove Cemetery. Details will be published at a later date.
Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Willow Grove Cemetery in Louisbourg, or a charity of one’s choice.
