Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jessie Bernice Lorenzen on July 3, 2022 at the age of 94.
Bernice was born in Kelwood, Manitoba to parents, Lewis John Mabley and Annie (Furber) Mabley.
In 1937, the family moved from Saskatchewan to the Peace country, eventually settling in Dixonville, AB. In 1947 she married Fred Taylor Lorenzen and they raised four children, Bruce, Bob, Cheryl and Karol Susan. Mom worked hard at whatever task she was faced with and loved her family unconditionally. Mom stood beside Dad helping him follow his dreams mostly in the trucking industry, and eventually Mom helped Dad open the Antique Truck Museum in Grimshaw. Not often a person is able to fulfill a dream and Dad’s was to restore and preserve those old International Trucks he loved so much and have a place where a person could have a coffee and talk about them old trucks and share some stories about history. This proved that no job was too big for Mom, whether it was selling eggs and butter, shipping milk and cream, selling chickens, running the North Star Café, cleaning houses, working for The Company of Young Canadians, Alberta Housing and being a strong member of the National Farmers Union.
Mom touched many lives in her 94 years and is going to missed by so many.
She was predeceased by her husband Fred; dad, Lewis John Mabley; mom Annie Mabley; brothers, Jim Johjn, Goldy (Harold), and sisters, Norma, Emily and her best friend and father-in-law Gus Lorenzen who called her Dot; mother-in-law, Betty Lorenzen; baby granddaughter, Roberta Lorenzen; great granddaughter, Shannon Somerville and great grandson Tyler Bagan.
Left to mourn her passing are children, Bruce (Val), Bob (Tess), Cheryl (Pete) and Susan (Garry); 19 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren along with many that Mom considered family including Sam (Joan) King and Gerry (Rosa) Kisoun.
