Bernard

Bernard Joseph Popiel 1939 2022

It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather, Bernard (aka, Bernie, Bert, Bean) at the age of 83 on December 22, 2022, at Seven Oaks Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Bernie leaves behind his three children, Krista (Terrance), Jason, Regan (Lisa); his grandchildren, Kris, Grace, Sadie and Jovie.
He was predeceased by his parents Nicholas and Anna; and his siblings, Edward, Helen, Alfred, and Walter.
Bernie was the youngest of five children and was born and raised in Winnipeg. In his younger years he was a member of the 407 Wing cadets of the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was a dedicated employee with Federal Pioneer Electric for over 35 years.
His interests were spending time with his children and grandchildren as well as gardening and was a big supporter of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He was also a member of the Selkirk Curling Club for many years as well.
As per Bernie’s wishes cremation has taken place.
There will be no formal service and there will be a private family gathering in his honour at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, any donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

We offer our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Bernard
