Obituary
Our family is saddened to announce the passing of Bernard Roy Townsend at the Queens General Hospital on November 11th, 2022. Born on September 13th, 1949 in West Head, he was the son of the late Floyd Vance Townsend and Edith Cavell Townsend.
Affectionately known as Bunny to everybody, he grew up in a different time, when scraping a living from the sea was all he and his family knew. He started fishing at a very young age. Throughout his life, whether in a Nor’ Easter off Bull Breaker on the first day of lobster season, a slicker on George’s Bank looking for swordfish, a foggy day on Roseway Bank while long-lining, or a snowstorm in February hauling empty lobster traps, to Bunny it was always a good day to be on the water.
He enjoyed sea ducking, deer hunting and in later years, spending time with his beloved cats, and quality time with his family.
Survived by his wife of 53 years Lorna; son Michael (Anika), daughter Tammy (Dale), grandchildren; Zachary, Josh, and Austin; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Judith Mae (in infancy).
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Lockeport. Visitation will take place at Huskilsons Funeral Home in Lockeport, on Thursday November 17th from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral to take place from the Lockeport Pentecostal Church on Friday, November 18th at 2 pm. Family flowers only.
