Age 73, of Falmouth, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022 in Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth. Born in Halifax on December 11, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Patricia (Marreau) Power.
Barbara loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially enjoying family gatherings and home cooked meals. She loved to shop, enjoyed Timmy’s coffee and donuts, flowers and gardening, Bingo (when she was winning) and the freedom of driving her car. Her beloved dog, Belle, provided her with much companionship. Watching the Shopping Channel and Chicago Fire were some of her favorite pastimes in the later years.
She is survived by daughters, Dianne (Ian) Riley and Sherry (Wayne) Tooke; grandchildren, Katelynn Riley, Courtney (Nick) Harnish, Phalieshia (Greg) Payne, Issac Payne, Thomas Tooke and Chanse (Denise) Tooke; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Layla, Paris-Ann, Natalie, Christian and Harmony; siblings, Thomas Power, Shirley (Donnie) Payne, Ronald (Brenda) Power and Rita (Laurie) Flynn.
Besides her parents, Barbara was predeceased by son, David Payne; infant grandson, Wayne Tooke Jr. and sister, Dianne Power.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the compassionate staff at Windsor Elms Village, in particular Osprey House 4, that cared for mom over the last two years. They brightened her days in so many ways.
Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A graveside service celebrating Barbara’s life will be held in the summer 2023 in Maplewood Cemetery, details to follow. Donations in memory of Barbara may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
