Barbara Julia Whitty 2022

Barbara Julia Whitty
September 18, 1939 – March 26, 2022

Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Hospital in the presence of her family, on March 26, 2022, Barbara Whitty (nee Hanlon), of Torbay, age 82.
Predeceased by her parents, Dennis and Annie Halon of Portugal Cove, her sister Elizabeth Manning (Richard) and her brothers Pat (Alice), and Gerry (Goldie).
Left to celebrate her life with cherished memories, her husband of 57 years, Stan, and her 4 children: Wanda (Jeff), Maureen (Billy), Tina (Ray), and Jason (Tanya), and grandchildren: Adam and Jenna, Liam and Holly, Nevyn and Soleil.
In addition to devoting her life to caring for her husband and children, she spent endless hours sewing from the simplest of things to elaborate graduation and christening dresses. She enjoyed doing Sudoku puzzles and baking. Everyone loved Nan’s chocolate cake. Most of all there was nothing she enjoyed more than a good game of cards in “The Cove” on a Sunday night.
The family will receive visitors at Cauls Funeral Home in Torbay on Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm (the family respectfully asks all visitors to wear masks). Funeral Mass on Monday, April 4th, 2022, at Holy Trinity Church at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at the cemetery, Bauline Line, Torbay.
Flowers gratefully accepted, or donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
“Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not only in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime.”

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Barbara Julia Whitty 2022..
