Audrey Olga Martindale nee Baun October 11th 2022 avis de deces

JUNE 25, 1926 TO OCT 11, 2022
Mom was born to Frederick and Katherine (deer) BAUN on their homestead in Leask Sask. She was # 11 of 12 children. She stayed on the farm until she moved to Toronto to live with her brother Ted . She worked in a rexall warehouse there and as a nanny. Later she returned to Sask, and worked for Frank and Margaret Veitenhammer in Sovereign. There she met the love of her life, our father Norman MARTINDALE.
Dad and Mom were married on June 25th, 1947 (on her 21st birthday), along with Dad’s sister Evelyn and Pete Simon. Together they travelled to Lake Louise AB, for their honeymoon. Always known to each other as “our partners in Crime”
They farmed in Sovereign for a few years, then moved to Canwood, with their 6 children. Mom always had a huge garden. At this point she had no children in sight when it came time to weeding that garden. We all scattered as far as our little legs would take us.
She canned in abundance, and laundry up to her neck, using that old wringer washer, and trying to keep one of our arms from going thru it as we helped push a towel thru. Saturdays were a day of cleaning and baking fresh bread and buns. Sundays we’d watch a Walt Disney show, with a large meal on our laps. Then we’d move the furniture close to the walls, and dance to Don Messer show. Everyone had a partner. We girls would hop on our brothers or Dad feet and off we’d go!
Dad and Mom we very close to Dads sisters and Uncle Orville and families. We’d. quite often be together on Sunday’s for either stolen chicken dinners or whatever was on the menu. Corn cob fights would soon break out after a fall feast. Sit down meals usually consisted of Grandpa M. Flinging a spoonful of mashed potatoes across the table and landing directly in the centre of your plate. But always enough food to feed an army. Family gatherings were always a hoot! Usually always consisted of all the Aunties and the brothers dressing up as whatever and a fun filled very funny skit was then preformed.
In the summer of 1966 Dad packed us up and moved us to Grindrod. Where Mom continued her busy life of raising us 6 children…then the 7th came along. A surprise for sure. But a lovely one. She also became a grandma 2 months later. Now we had 2 babies to spoil!
Mom was alway doing something with her hands. From the normal daily household chores, she was also a talented seamstress. She could make up any pattern from any newspaper, and make it in 3 different sizes. !!!!! She could sew a prom dress in a matter of hours, or a beautiful 8 tiered wedding dress. She also loved knitting or crocheting something. Mom also had a love of picking wild mushrooms, and huckleberries and blueberries. Taking anyone who wanted to go along.
Mom leaves behind her six remaining children- Leonard (& Roxanna) from Didsbury Ab, Shelley (& Dennis) from West Kelowna , BC, Bonnie (& Brian) from Enderby BC, Holly (& Byron) from Armstrong, BC, D’Arcy (& Linda) from Mara , BC and Cory ( and Brenda) from Mara. (Diana and Janice)
