Audrey Elizabeth Bateman 2022

Audrey’s Obituary
BATEMAN, Audrey Elizabeth – 92, made her final journey to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Graceview Residence, Victoria Vale. She was born in Middleton, the only daughter of Lester and Evangeline (Baker) Giffin and was visited by family in her last moments. Knowing how much she was loved by all who were blessed to have known her, Audrey believed that she was meant to help others and did so, giving to people and organizations freely and happily. Her prayer list was filled with family and friends and was completed every day. She loved her family and never forgot a birthday, anniversary, graduation and other special events, sending hundreds of cards. Audrey married her beloved husband Cecil in 1968 and they enjoyed travel and spent many winters on the Isle of Man with his family and friends.
Audrey began her teaching career in a one room school in Spa Springs, before attending Acadia University where she graduated with a BA and Bachelor of Education. Her 32 year teaching career of French and History took her to many locations, beginning in Lockeport. She taught in Moncton, Summerside, PEI, Middleton, and retired from West Kings High School. Audrey was a member and organist at the Victoria Vale Baptist Church, a member of IODE, WMS, and past executive member of UBWMU. She served in many capacities including camp councillor, in choirs and as a youth leader. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, Scrabble, reading and visitations to the DVA unit at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital in Middleton during her retirement. After living in Kingston for several years, Audrey and Cecil moved into the homestead in Victoria Vale to care for Mom and Dad. Their care and devotion to our parents was unlimited.
After Cecil’s passing, Audrey remained independent in her apartment next to brother John and his wife Maxine.
Surviving are her stepdaughter Tracy (Bill) Barnes, Huntsville, ON; stepson Rick (Lynda) Bateman, Toronto, ON; brothers Randolph Giffin, St. John, NB; Ron (Patricia) Giffin, Kentville, NS; Edwin (Marlene) Giffin, Cambridge, NS; James Giffin (Jan Howe), Moncton, NB; Frederick Giffin, Wolfville, NS; grandchildren Kirsten (Christopher) Davies, Kuwait; Graham Barnes (Kenora Craft), Barrie, ON; Paul Bateman, Niagara Falls, ON; great granddaughter Rosie Davies.
Audrey was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband Cecil Bateman, brothers Wilfred and John Giffin, sisters-in-law, Thelma, Betty Anne, Maxine and Margaret Anne.
The family would like to thank Lorraine White and her family for the wonderful love and care Audrey received at Graceview Residence. Also a special thanks to cousin Murray Baker for all the help he gave to Audrey during the time that she lived at her home in Middleton.
A Memorial service will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, August 10, 2022 in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, Rev. Dr. Harry Gardner officiating. A reception will follow the service. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, family only attending. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Victoria Vale Baptist Church, the Lester and Evangeline Foundation at Acadia University, the Acadia Divinity College or charity of choice.
