Obituary of Arthur Burnell Lyons
Age 80 of Greenwich, Kings Co., passed away peacefully at home Sunday, February 20, 2022. Born in Blomidon on April 28, 1941 he was the son of the late George and Evelyn (Kenney) Lyons.
Art was a farmer, firefighter at Camp Aldershot and later a school bus driver for 35 years employed by Kings County School Board, W.C. Rooney Transportation and Perry Rand Ltd., until his retirement. He loved the children, parents and school communities he served. He also had his own wood cutting business on the side. He was born to drive and enjoyed many family road trips and vacations.
He will be greatly missed by his surviving family, wife, Patricia (Foley); son, Burnell; sister, Rachael (Lyons) Todd and niece and nephew, Susan Purcell and David Todd.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by aunts, Edith Allen and Helen Kenney; uncle, Samuel Kenney.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert Street, Windsor (902-798-8317). At Art’s request there will be no funeral service or celebration of life. A private burial will be held at a later date in Houston’s Beach Cemetery. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, any memorial donations in memory of Art be made to Parkinson’s Society Nova Scotia, 290 Main Ave., Ste. 801, Halifax, NS B3M 3V3.
