The family of Dr. Arthur (Ted) Edwin Brown are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of their dearest father at the age of 92, on February 16, 2022, at Markham Stouffville Hospital. Beloved husband of the late Laura Jean (Brown). Loving father of Jennifer (Darren), Jeffrey (Julie Anne), Andrew (Amy), Leslie (Alan), Hilary (Trevor), extremely proud grandfather of Jamie, Shannon, Ryan, Laura, Paige, Cameron, Kelsi, Dayna, Alexandra, and step-grandchildren Luna and Patrick.
Dr. Brown had a long and distinguished career as a child psychologist, with the majority of his career spent at the Toronto Board of Education. He was a founding member of the Psychological Association of Manitoba and the Special Interest Group of Psychologists in Education of the Ontario Psychological Association. He was the first chairman of the Toronto chapter of S.I.G.P.E., past president of the Board of the Metropolitan Toronto Branch, Canadian Mental Health Association, and executive committee member of the Canadian Mental Health Association. Dr. Brown authored and co-authored many papers over the length of his career including but not limited to The Toronto Early Identification and Developmental Program: Evaluation and Expansion and Learning Disabilities and Special Education.
As a father he had a very calm, quiet demeanor which he carried throughout his life. He was an avid reader and historian. As both children and adults, we always had everything we needed, and we were encouraged to follow our dreams which were fully supported by him both financially and emotionally. He was always there for each of us whenever we needed him and his love, caring, and understanding will never be forgotten.
We love and miss you dearly Dad, you will always be in our hearts and forever missed.
