Obituary
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our family patriarch. Surrounded by his family, Antonio in his 83rd year, entered into rest on Wednesday December 28, 2022 at the Juravinski Hospital. Cherished husband of Chira for over 55 years. Loving father and father in law to Caterina, Patrizia (Demetri) Demetriou and Nadia (Roberto) Ponte. Proud and affectionate Nonno to Alessia, Claudia, Sophia, Francesca and Leo. Predeceased by his parents Francesco Taglieri Sclocchi and Caterina Sclocchi as well as his sister and brother in law Dina (Antonio) Paolone. Dear brother and brother in law of Concetta (Vittorio) Ruscitti of Hamilton and Manfredo (Adelina) of Italy. Antonio will be lovingly remembered by his sister in law Delia Liberatore (the late Francesco Simboli) in Italy and his brothers in law Rossano Liberatore and Frank (Barbara) Liberatore of Hamilton as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews in Italy and Canada. Antonio was born on June 1st, 1940 in Pescina (AQ). He immigrated to Canada from Italy in 1965. He left his homeland determined to create a beautiful life. He will be remembered as a strong, dedicated and hard working man who provided so many wonderful opportunities for his family. We will never forget his endless sacrifices. In his spare time, he enjoyed many years of gardening and growing fresh vegetables. He would share his harvest with family, friends and neighbours. In the fall, he would prepare for wine season. His passion for wine making each year brought him tremendous joy. He was so proud of his wine and would not let anyone leave his home without sharing a glass with them. He enjoyed reading history books, watching documentaries and spending time with his grandchildren. Visitation will be held at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street East, on Monday January 2nd, 2023 from 5-9 p.m. Vigil prayers on Monday at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 165 Prospect Street North, on Tuesday January 3rd, 2023 at 11 a.m. Entombment to follow at Our Lady of Victory Mausoleum, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington. Special thanks to his PSW Lorena from Bayshore, Dr. Bibic for all her care throughout the years as well as the nurses and doctors (5 West) at the General Hospital and Juravinski (E3).
