Antonio Fernando Lopes
Antonio Fernando Lopes passed away peacefully at Kensington Hospice on March 11th, 2022.
He will be missed by his spouse of 51 years Maria de Fatima Lopes, son Rui (Angie), daughter Vera (Michael), and his grandchildren who were Vovo’s joy – Ana Sofia, Nuno, Lucas, Sara, Liam, and Siena.
He will forever be remembered as a caring, generous, and loving husband, father, father-in- law, grandfather, brother in law, uncle and friend. Survived by his siblings Jose, Augusto, Jorge and Lucia.
Well known simply as “Lopes” here in Toronto and also on his previous living town of Ponta Delgada, São Miguel. António was born in Terceira island, and was always known as the child who gave what he owned to his friends. As a young man he served in the Army and led him to travel to São Miguel where he met and married his spouse. He was a humble, kind and hard working man always strong. With a positive attitude he was never afraid of anything in life.
A private funeral service will be held. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Kensington Hospice, Ronald MacDonald House, or a shelter of your choice.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the outstanding staff at Kensington Hospice, and to all of their family, and friends who outpoured the most amazing support during Antonio’s rapid sickness.
