Fraser (Redden), Annie “Ruth” – passed away peacefully Thursday, October 6, 2022, in Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital, Middle Musquodoboit. Born in Lindsay Lake, she was a daughter of the late Henry Miller Redden and Frances Annie Higgins.
Over the years, Ruth and Ronald fostered many children while raising five of their own. She was an Avon representative in the Musquodoboit Valley for many years. She also enjoyed her many trips to Bangor, Maine for bingo and shopping. Ruth loved to play bingo, go to yard sales and flea markets, and collect Royal Albert china and other unique items. She was an avid knitter and seamstress, making afghans, countless pillows and baby quilts for many people. She made the best biscuits and homemade beans.
She is survived by her children, Gerry, Middle Musquodoboit; Kathy, Higginsville; Bonnie McMullen (Danny), Missouri; Paul, Higginsville; and foster children, Marjorie Lloyd, Halifax and Bill McDonald, Ottawa; grandchildren, Trish Blackburn (Mike) and their children, Mitchell and Sarah; Dawn Whidden (Jim) and children, Nathan, Laura, and Samantha; Tony Fraser (Wanda Stone) and their son, Henry; Michelle Sibley (Paul) and their children, Abigail and Malcolm; great-grandson Douglas Fraser, great-great granddaughter, Charlotte; and daughter-in-law, Linda.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Eugene Fraser; sons, Ronald Edwin Fraser, Stephen Michael (infancy); grandsons, Gary Boake and Shawn Fraser. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been predeceased by her brothers, Winfred Redden (Edith), Nathan Redden (Marion), Russell Redden, Clifford Redden (Margaret); sisters, Roxie Arnold (Albert), Violet Redden, Mary Elliott (Charlie), Ida MacPhee (Willard), Clara Cruikshank (Harold), Ethel Scott (Eark), Hazel Garbutt (Ross), Edna Johnson (John), Beatrice Lindsay (Alexander), Daisy Johnson (Percy) and Edythe Conrad (Cecil).
Ruth will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Special thanks to the compassionate nursing staff and doctors at the Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital. A graveside service will be Wednesday, October 12, 2022 2 p.m. in Higginsville Cemetery with a reception to follow.
