Obituary
Annie Alexanderina Carey
Florence. –
Annie entered God’s Kingdom on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital palliative care unit, at the age of 85, with her loving family by her side.
Annie was born on February 8, 1937, to the late Joseph and Gertrude (Mackinnon) LeBlanc. Annie is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Alfred Carey; daughter Sherry (Glenn)Alderson; sisters Mary (Jackie)Matthews and Janie Gouthro; three beautiful granddaughters, Monique, Melissa, and Maranda, and great-grandson Henry. She leaves behind a large loving circle of many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by the Carey family and many special friends and neighbours.
Besides her parents, Annie was predeceased by her two sons, Alex and Joe Glen Clark.
Annie was a faithful member of Holy Family Parish, Sydney Mines. A faithful woman who loved the lord, her family, and her community. In her younger years, she volunteered with church activities, CWL at St. Stephen’s church in Florence, sang in the choir, and loved doing scripture readings (lecturer). She has a very spiritual soul and would spend many hours praying for all who needed them. She was a member of the Fire of Love prayer group. Mom had the most beautiful smile. You could see the Lord in her.
Annie loved to sing and dance. Watching her dance with her husband Alfred was mesmerizing.
The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and doctors of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for taking great care of our Angle Annie, as well as the Cape Breton County homemakers that cared for her at home. A special thank you to Mom‘s niece Tracy Inder for all her help through the years; Mom thought of her as a second daughter and neighbour Derek Devoe for the many remarkable ways he helped out throughout the years; he is like a son to mom. Thank you also to Dr. Michel McKeough for his many years of caring for Annie.
Visitation for Mom will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at J.M Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. A celebration of her life will take place Thursday, December 29 at 10:30 am, at St. Joseph’s Church, Little Bras d’Or, with Father Angus MacDougall officiating. A reception will be held in the parish hall, following the Mass. Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
