Anne Shirley Miller Rye Tuesday December 27th 2022 avis de deces death notice

With deep sorrow, we announce that Anne Shirley Miller (nee Rye) passed away in her 96th year on December 27, 2022 at Margaret Behan Hospice in Newmarket, family by her side. Loving wife, widowed, of Wilson Stewart and Aubrey Miller. Cherished mother of Dale-Anne Stewart (Peter Lauwers) and Blair Stewart (Helga Frank). Adored by granddaughters Victoria (Alex), Julia (Nick), and Rebecca (Jonathan). Treasured by great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Josephine and Theodore. Shirley is predeceased by brothers, Vernon, Ivan, Glen and sister, Carol. She is survived by her dear, older sister, Evelyn.
Anne Shirley was born in Keswick to hardworking farmers, Annie and Milford Rye and grew up in a religious family. Shirley had a loving and cheerful spirit. She left home at fourteen with her sister Evelyn and worked at Eaton’s in Toronto, enjoying her life as a city girl. At age seventeen, Shirley managed a war munitions department at Massey Ferguson. After the war, at home in Keswick, she met and married Air Force veteran Wilson Stewart. Together they raised their two children, Dale-Anne and Blair. She worked for several years in real estate, enjoying personal and professional success. Six years after Wilson’s passing, she found love again with Aubrey Miller, a family friend from her youth. They were married for sixteen years.
Gentle and compassionate by nature, Shirley lived her faith through acts of daily kindness. She loved her family deeply, and was a constant beacon of support and encouragement. She served as a maternal figure for many. She was stoic in her final weeks of a brief illness. Extended family flocked to her side in what she called ‘an outpouring of love’. It meant the world to her to have this special time to say goodbye. She charmed everyone with her grace and good humour including those who cared for her in final days. She believed devoutly that: “Love beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Love never faileth.”
Bye for now, dear, sweet mother. You remain forever in our hearts.
