Obituary of Angus John MacKinnon
MacKinnon, Angus John “Gus”
September 23rd,1942- December 15th, 2022
Peacefully surrounded by his family after an unexpected battle with cancer.
From his times as an OPP officer and 30 years working security at Ford, Gus had the best stories to share. He was a lot of things to a great number of people and he was loved by every single one of them.
Beloved son of his late parents Catherine and Phillip McKinnon.
Devoted husband and partner of 50 years to Brenda ( Nee Hillman). Proud father of Shelley (Emanuela), Stacey (Jake) and Scott (Sarah). Adored, doting Papa to Travis, Tessa and Nathan.
Cherished big brother of Helen, Sheila (Ben), Quentin, Betty (Terry) and Dannie.
Brother in law extraordinaire to all the Hillman siblings.
Uncle who was like a friend to numerous nieces and nephews. Celebrated friend of everyone he met.
Gus will be remembered as a family man through and through. A genuine soul who truly wanted the best for others, with a laugh that will resonate for years to come.
He was one of the good ones.

Gus was lovingly cared for by the amazing nurses and support while in Hospice.

  1. I find myself in a sad place right now thinking of my cousin Brenda and all her children and grandchildren living without this head of the family, a family he devoted himself to.
From the moment I walked into Gus and Brenda home, the welcome was such a genuine warm place to be, and full of familiar family humour.
My whole heart is filled with gratitude for every time Gus made a brunch and I can picture him in my mind but right now it hurts too much….but I know we will all get there.
I will be here for all the things you loved most Gus, and that is your family.
Till we meet again. ♥️…love you.

  2. We were shocked and saddened this weekend to hear of Gus’s passing. Over the years he and Brenda became loved, life-time friends of the Kwapisz family. Our heartfelt condolences to Brenda, Shelley, Stacey and Scott, and to Gus’s siblings and in-laws and cousins, and to Gus and Brenda’s many, many good friends. Gus was a wonderful man, and he lived a wonderful life.
Sincerely, Ed and Michelle (or as Gus preferred to call us, Eddie and Doc.)
