Peacefully and surrounded with love, Angela Breadner passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at the age of 82 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 61 years, Barry Breadner; daughter Jillian (Vince); daughter-in-law Holly; and her grandchildren: Lindsay (Pete), Sam (Kelley), Ryan, Joseph, and Katelina; as well as her great-grandchildren: Evelyn, Grace, and Hayley.
Angela was predeceased by her parents William and Ann Leonard, and both her sons Eric and Colin. She will be dearly missed by her friends at the United Church of St. Albert, as well as her regular swimming group from Fountain Park Pool.
Angela had lived an adventurous life. She was born in Southport Lancashire, England in 1940 and emigrated to Saskatoon in 1953. She completed High School in Saskatoon and was a member of the school track and field team. After graduation, she took a position at the Canadian Imperial Bank and was actively involved in the youth organizations at St. Thomas-Wesley United Church where she met Barry. They were married in 1960 and began a family shortly thereafter with their son Eric born in 1961, and Colin in 1964. Following Barry’s career, they lived in Texas, Alberta, Pakistan, Yemen, and Nigeria with many stories to tell from their experiences. They travelled extensively throughout Europe, the Mediterranean, Southeast Asia, Africa, and South America and made connections with friends everywhere they went. Angela’s joy was found in the friends they made, the gatherings they held at home and abroad, and in contributing to the needs of others. Socializing was truly the light of her life; her quick wit and laughter will be remembered by all who knew her. She loved time with her family, singing in the choir, crafts and pottery, sewing and dressmaking, and gardening. When she was surrounded by flowers and pretending to chat with the birds in the backyard, it always made her family smile.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, August 19th, 2022, at St. Albert United Church,
20 Green Grove Drive, St. Albert.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the University of Alberta Hospital Foundation, 8440 112 St NW, Edmonton, AB, T6G 2B7
