Obituary of Andre` Joseph Gould
With broken hearts the family of Andre “Aunge” Joseph Gould announce his sudden and tragic passing on Saturday, August 13th, in Port Saunders at the age of 56.
Leaving to mourn with loving and cherished memories his daughters Rebecca and Melanie Gould; siblings Iris Cornick, Jeffery (Agnes) Gould, Denise Gould, Daniel Gould and Fintan Gould; nephew Jackie Cornick; nieces Danielle Cornick, Gizelle Cornick, Daylena (Quinton) Gould, Jadean House, Dayna Gould and Felicia Alyward; great-nieces Jasmine Cornick and Gracie Delaney; great-nephews Beau and Jude Biggin; in addition a large circle of extended family and friends.
Predeceased by his parents Fintan and Laura Gould; brother Maurice Ryan; sister Barbara Gould; nephew Dylan Gould.
Aunge was born in Port Saunders and raised in Port Aux Choix by his parents Fintan and Laura. At the young age of 12, his family experienced a horrific tragedy with the sudden loss of their beloved father Fintan leaving their mother Laura a widow with 7 children to raise. This led to their maternal grandmother, Mildred Ryan, to move in with the family to help raise Aunge and his siblings. As a young boy, he was known to be happy go lucky, with a sense of humour and with a mischievous side. As a young man, Aunge moved to Ontario to try the city life but found himself returning to his hometown in Newfoundland where he worked in the fishery for many years. In later years, he spent his time between Alberta and Newfoundland eventually settling in Port Saunders.
Family was important in Andres life. He had a profound love for his beautiful daughters Rebecca and Melanie, he took pride in being a Godfather to his nephew Jackie and loved all his “favorite nieces”, brothers and sisters. For anyone who had met Aunge and spent time with him, would have many memories and stories to share. Most certainly of his outgoing personality, his kind nature, his contagious smile, his connection to loud music, his knack for story telling, his fondness of snowmobiling, his loyalty to family and to all those he held dear, and most certainly his pure love for his Camaro…it was a part of him.
