Anahid Demiray

Peacefully, with her family by her side, on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at the ripe old age of ninety-three. Loving wife of the late Sezar Demiray. Dear mother and mother-in-law of Talin and Majak Tosikyan. Beloved grandmother of Axel Tosikyan Proud great-grandmother of Leah and Sasha Tosikyan. Predeceased by her two dear brothers and their spouses, Loris and Eli Kucuk, Pierre and Lydia Kucuk. Caring aunt to Noy Kucuk (Kathy), Artun Kucuk (Mireille), and Michael Kucuk (Helene), and great-aunt to Genesa, Jade, Aiden, and Aimee.
Born in Istanbul, Turkey, Anahid was the apple of her parents’ eye. She was the youngest of three siblings and was spoiled rotten by her two elder brothers. She married Sezar Demiray in 1945 and had a loving marriage spanning many decades. They loved to travel and attend concerts together. A few years after Sezar’s sudden death in 1978, she moved to Montreal, Canada with her daughter, son-in-law and grandson. Canada was very good to her. In Canada, she was able to see her beloved grandson graduate from medical school. This was a great source of pride to her. She also had the pleasure of being with her two great-grandchildren, whom she adored. People who knew Anahid would describe her as a generous and loyal friend. She was a resourceful person and would quickly find a solution to any problem you brought to her. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Graveside service on Sunday, March 27 at 1:00 p.m., at the Beth Israel Monument Section, Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Duvernay. Shiva strictly private. Donations in Anahid’s memory may be made to the Hematology-Oncology Department c/o the Sacré Cœur Hospital Foundation, (514) 338-2303.
