Alphonse “Al” Benoit Deveau
94, Halifax
It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Alphonse “Al” Deveau at his home, surrounded by family, in Halifax on February 18, 2022. Born in Meteghan Station he was the son of the Late Leo and Celina (Founier) Deveau.
Alphonse was a successful carpenter for many years. He loved hunting and fishing, continuing to hunt until he was in his 90’s. Alphonse was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Married in 1958, Alphonse spent 63 wonderful years with the love of his life, Phyllis. He loved his family more than anything, especially spending time (and tormenting) his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alphonse also had a special place in his heart for his dogs.
Alphonse is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis (Saulnier) Deveau, Sons; Harold (Celina), Wayne (Joanne), David, and Mark (Paula); daughter’s, Patricia (Brian), Joyce and Darlene; brother Alfred; sisters May and Agnes as well as 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Alphonse was also pre-deceased by Brothers, Edward, Peter, Dennie and Leo; sisters Lucy, Cecilia, Presilla; grand-daughter Jessica Barkhouse; son-in-law Randy Topple and great-grandson Xavier Deveau.
Cremation has taken place; Arrangements are under the care and direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.
