Obituary of Allen Abrassart
Allen Francis Abrassart
May 8, 1942 – January 12, 2022
It is with deep sadness, we announce the death of our father at the age of 79 years. He passed peacefully, without pain, with family at his side.
Allen Abrassart was born May 8, 1942 to August(Augustin) and Alice Abrassart(Inks) in Hardisty, Alberta. He grew up on the farm at Nilrem just outside of Amisk, Alberta, with his 2 sisters Arlene and Annette.
As a teenager, he had a keen interest in music and won a talent competition which would lead to a lifelong love for music and entertaining. This included singing, playing guitar, recording two records and later handcrafting beautiful guitars. Over the years, he belonged to bands with friends and family like Tim McNalley and Harvey McNalley. They played for many weddings and events in local communities. They liked to play country (or country rock) music which always included a few of his favorite artist, Merle Haggard. Music always remained a big part of his and his families’ life.
After joining the Air Force and later getting his Journeyman Mechanics, Allen moved to Provost where he met Patricia Ferry who owned Pat’s Beauty Salon. They were married on June 7, 1963 in Provost, Alberta. They enjoyed activities together like stock car racing (and rebuilding them) in Provost. They eventually moved to Beaver Lodge, Edmonton and then the Onoway area. When his dad passed away in 1973, they moved to the family farm, with their 4 children, outside Amisk where Allen grew up to help his mom with the farm. Together they raised three girls and one boy. Grain farming, raising hogs, cattle, chickens, and a few horses to ride was a family affair. Allen would also work running heavy equipment for people in the community and pipeline projects over the years. Allen and Pat tried their hand in the hospitality industry for many years having restaurants and the Czar Hotel, which served the local community. They also sponsored a local hockey team, the Czar Cowboys, which involved attending and cheering on the team in many other towns.
He was preceded in death by his father, August Abrassart on April 17, 1973; Alice Abrassart December 17, 2002; and his wife Patricia Abrassart November 13, 2014.
He is survived by his three daughters, Rhonda Del Rio(Bob)-grandchildren Cody(Carly)Axley(son Dallas); Dylan Axley(Carmen); Jamie Del Rio(Steve); Jodi (Ron)Sather-grandchildren Jilisa Sather(son Mason); Whitney Sather(Jason)(daughter Sophie); Kendra Sather; and Michelle Abrassart(Kent); his son Vince Abrassart- grandchildren Morgan Abrassart(JT); Logan Abrassart. His sisters Arlene Manning and Annette Morris; nephew and nieces Kevin(Cindy)Manning; Connie(Gordon)Kraft; Nicki; Todd; Lisa; and many cousins and friends.
The twinkle in his blue eyes when he smiled at you will always be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
Cremation has taken place.
Allen requested a celebration of life in the spring(May 7 as tentative date). Dad’s words “where you all can get together and share some good memories with tears of laughter instead of sadness”. His ashes will be laid to rest at that time.
Thank you to the St. Mary’s Hospital staff and Tara Lee from Homecare, for providing such good care of our dad. As well, thank you to Jim and Leighton who prayed with dad, giving him comfort and peace to move on to his next journey.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Allen
