Obituary of Allan Robert Murray
Murray, Allan Robert of Georgetown in his 87th year after a brief illness passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Trillium Hospital. Born on August 14, 1935 in Paisley, Scotland to Allan Ritchie Murray and Jeannie Murray (nee McCutcheon). He served, with pride, as a fireman in the RAF at Swinderby from 1957-1959. He apprenticed as a carpenter/joiner at Stowe College and then worked as a carpenter for the Ministry of Defense in Bishopton, Scotland. He continued his trade after immigrating to Canada in 1967 and was employed at Ontario Power Generation for 24 years.
He loved to go to Lester B. Pearson Airport or the Brampton Flying Club to watch the aircraft land and take off. He would treat his daughter to french fries as he would place her on the hood of the car to watch with him. He loved animals and in particular his Miniature Schnauzers Bran, Gemima, Kohla and Brynn as well as his Morkie, Angus. He was always willing to lend a hand and continued to work after retirement at Hope Aero Propeller and Components, for Delrex Aluminium and Knox Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his loving wife Jean Murray (nee Henry) and his daughter, Janice. He is predeceased by his sister Janette and brother Colin and is survived by his brothers Ronald and Douglas and by his sister Jean. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews in both Canada and Scotland.
Friends will be received at the Jones Funeral Home (11582 Trafalgar Rd.) Georgetown on Friday May 13, from 1-2 pm. Memorial Service in the Chapel at 2:00pm with reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Upper Credit Humane Society or The Alzheimer’s Society.
