Obituary
Alina Jacek passed away peacefully in Maple Ridge on March 12, 2022, with her closest family at her side. Born in Czestochowa, Poland, Alina along with her husband Anthony and their daughter emigrated to Canada in 1971. She worked as a chef, first in the Faculty Club at the University of Toronto then at the University of Calgary. In the 1980’s, along with her husband, she was involved in sponsoring Polish refugees in Calgary. Settling in Vancouver, she was actively involved in the Polish Veterans Association, Zgoda and SPK. She was awarded the Gold Cross of Merit by the President of Poland in 2001 for her work in the Polish community abroad.
She is survived by her daughter Jolanta, with husband Richard, and her beloved grandchildren: Robert with wife Allison and Daniel with wife Agnieszka. She was Babcia to all, including Niece Izabela, nephew Alexander, and numerous great nieces, nephews and so many others of both the Polish and Canadian communities.
Alina Jacek odeszła w spokoju 12 marca 2022 r. w Maple Ridge przy boku najbliższej rodziny. Urodzona w Częstochowie 1933 roku, Alina wraz z mężem Antonim i córką wyemigrowała do Kanady w 1971. Pracowała jako kucharz, początkowo w Klubie Wydziału na Uniwersytecie w Toronto, a następnie na Uniwersytecie w Calgary. W latach 80. wraz z mężem zaangażowała się w pomoc polskich uchodźców w Calgary. Osiedlając się w Vancouver, aktywnie działała w Polskim Związku Kombatantów, Zgodzie i SPK. Za działalność polonijną została odznaczona przez Polskę Złotym Krzyżem Zasługi w 2001 roku.
Pozostawiła córkę Jolantę z mężem Ryszardem, wnuków: Roberta z żoną Allison i Daniela z żoną Agnieszką. Siostrzenicę Izabelę i siostrzeńca Aleksandra oraz liczne grono siostrzenic i siostrzeńców, również tych „przybranych”. Dla wszystkich była Babcią.
