Obituary
Alfredo was born in Bogota, Colombia in 1960. He has a total of five brothers and two sisters. He inherited his charisma and thoughtfulness from his mother Graciela, a remarkably kind hardworking woman. From a young age he developed a passion for learning, which fueled his lifelong educational journey, resulting in academic success across the fields of mathematics, physics, law, and education. He was an avid athlete, leader, and learner. He was quick-witted and had an innate passion for serving others.
During his time in Colombia, his passion for teaching began early in his career teaching math, physics, and criminal law. He also had a profound positive impact on law enforcement. He was a true defender of human rights and a champion for justice. As a lawyer his work paved the way for recent peace talks in Colombia that have ended the 50- year long conflict in the nation.
He moved to Canada with his family in 2001 to start a new chapter in his life and continue his pursuit of educational and spiritual growth. He found a welcoming and nurturing home here in Okotoks, a community where he created lifelong friendships and memories. His calling to nurture and guide those around him extended beyond the academic sphere. This allowed him to find unique ways to touch the hearts of everyone he encountered.
Alfredo is survived by his wife Helena, his daughter Laura, his son David. His siblings Eduardo, Marcos, Carlos, Javier, German, Lucila, and Martha. His cousins including Nestor, Elizabeth, and Esperanza. His mother-in-law Ines will miss him dearly in addition to numerous nephews and nieces.
His spirit will transcend the boundaries of space and time, and the mark he left on each of us will forever be a testament to his legacy.
A Prayer service will be said on Sunday, August 14th, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. at Snodgrass Funeral Home, Okotoks. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Monday, August 15th, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Parish, Okotoks.
