Obituary of Alexander Hayden Yaholnitsky
Alexander Hayden Yaholnitsky passed away in Saskatoon on June 30, 2022. He was born in Yorkton on April 20, 1990. Alex was a kind and generous soul, always willing to help family and friends. He was smart and stubborn, loyal and loving. He was especially caring toward his two sisters.
Alex graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 2008. He then attended the University of Saskatchewan where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with High Honours in 2012. Shortly after his convocation, Alex began working with Vecima Networks in Saskatoon, where he continued as a highly valued employee until his death.
Alex played a big role in the life of his friend Ashley Ramstad’s daughter, Lydia. Alex loved caring for and spending time with his ‘Lydipoo’, and Lydia loved her ‘Uncle Alex’. Alex regularly sent photos and videos to his family of his outings with Lydia.
Alex also had many hobbies and interests. When he wasn’t at work or with Lydia, he was often playing disc golf or fantasy football. He had very recently taken a trip to Toronto with friends to check out some new disc golf courses. Alex was also a huge fan of DC comics. He collected Batman and Star Wars memorabilia. Alex had many close friends, both from his childhood and employment. His sisters were amazed by the number of weddings he was invited to, often being a part of the wedding party.
Alex is survived by his mother and stepfather, Donna and Dave Bucsis of Yorkton; two sisters, Erica Yaholnitsky (James Harwood) of Calgary and Hilary Yaholnitsky of Saskatoon; three step-siblings, Raymond Bucsis (Jayla and children Emerick and Cecilia) of Yorkton, Amanda Wilde (Jon and children Kinley and Mason) of Prince Albert, Katelyn Altrogge (Jordan and son Van) of Regina, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. Alex continued to be devastated by the loss of his father, who passed away in 2019. He was also predeceased by his grandparents, Norman and Ruth Taylor, and Richard and Grace Yaholnitsky, and his aunt Karen Taylor.
Alex sponsored a child through World Vision. Those wishing to make a donation in his memory may choose this organization or a charity of their choice.
