Alexander Brennan Reid
2014-2022
Alexander Brennan Reid
passed away peacefully in the arms of loved ones April 14, 2022 at
Evergreen Home for Special Care. Alex was born on February 15, 2014 in
Cape Breton. In 2015 he became a part of the Evergreen family where he
was surrounded by many incredible people who played a big part in him
living a full life; Adrianna Coleman, his “work mom”, Kate
Dean, Roseanne Turner, as well as Andrea Cottrell, the director of
nursing and former director, Shelly Owen. Many more staff loved and
supported Alex as he instantly stole the hearts of everyone he met,
including his social worker, Twila Burton. Riding became a big part of
his life with weekly sessions with his wonderful support worker, Helen
Gibson. Alex also had a special friendship with Mike Ricketts, who
stole him away daily to visit with the ladies upstairs and play music
together. We are sure Mike was one of the first to greet Alex in
heaven. Alex also loved school, his classmates, as well as his
wonderful support staff, Bobbie Cann and Donna Milne. Alex is also
survived by his “honorary parents”, Tim and Erica Rogers as
well as little brother, Emmett who would ask to go visit Alex where
they would laugh together. Tim and Erica provided a home away from
home for Alex for several years where they would host birthday parties
for Alex and his friends, celebrate Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter
and other special occasions. Together with their families, the
Rogers’ and Emmett would also enjoy quiet moments where they
simply enjoyed spending time together and their relationship taught so
many others about how much love our hearts can hold when they are
open. A service to celebrate Alex’s life and love will be
held on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the White Family Funeral
Home, Kentville. Donations can be made in Alex’s memory to
the Free Spirit Therapeutic Riding Association (www.fstra.ca).
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral
Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
