BALOGH, Alec – of Port Colborne passed away at the Welland General Hospital on Wednesday December 14, 2022, in his 78th year. Beloved husband for 43 years of the late Norma, loving dad of Frank and his wife Christine and dear Papa of Dylan and the late Murray. Alec will be lovingly missed by his very special friend Angela Reibel. He is survived by sister Marg and her husband Brian Cassidy, his nieces Ruth Otterman and Diana Cassidy and his nephew Shawn Cassidy. Alec was predeceased by his father Ferenc, his mother Roza, his stepmother Eszter, his brothers Steve Balogh, Ferenc Balogh and his sister Elizabeth Kosztyo. He will be fondly remembered by all his family and his many friends. After graduating high school Alec started as an Officer Cadet with the OPP and proudly worked as an Officer for 30 years in the Niagara Area. He enjoyed spending some of his free time playing tennis and had been heavily involved in the Port Colborne Tennis Club for many years. He loved playing euchre and cherished the many friends he made through the euchre leagues he was involved in. One of his favourite things to do was to cheer on the Sabres with his grandson Dylan. Alec was an avid traveller who enjoyed the opportunities to make new friends and to socialize as he explored new destinations. Cremation has taken place. The Balogh family will receive visitors at the DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME 135 Clarence St., Port Colborne on Sunday December 18, 2022, from 6-8pm and on Monday December 19, 2022, from 10:00am until the time of the Memorial service in the Davidson Chapel at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances to the Diabetes Association or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
