Unexpectedly on August 8, 2022, Albert Victor Mastin passed away in his sleep at home in Gimli, MB, at the age of 73 years.
Victor was predeceased by his parents Albert and Anna Mastin and his father and mother-in-law, Tony and Herta Derby.
Victor is survived by his loving wife Gail (nee: Derby), his sister Lorna (Ivor) Schedewitz, his brother Rev. Howard (Joan), brothers-in-law Brian (Cindy), Eric (Lauren), Garry (Wanda),nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Victor was born in Winnipeg. He married Gail Derby in 1972 and they lived in Winnipeg until 1982 when they moved to the RM of Springfield – Oakbank and then in 1997 moved to the RM of Gimli.
One of Victor’s happiest days was when he celebrated his 50th Wedding Anniversary on March 25, 2022 with Gail.
He worked for United Grain Growers for over 28 years with many promotions and was Manager of Technical Support.
Victor loved working on his HO trains. He enjoyed carpentry, which his father-in-law Tony Derby (Master Carpenter) taught him.
He enjoyed helping his family and friends build garages and doing renovations. Victor loved the farm where he could go and walk in the woods with his dog and enjoy nature.
Victor had a wonderful English humour and was very kind and loving. He was the best husband a wife could want. He will missed!
In keeping with Victor’s wishes, blessings were done before cremation and prayers were done with Pastor Glen Gelhorn of Grace Lutheran Church in Winnipeg while cremation was taking place.
A Celebration of Life will take place later in the year.
