Albert Austin Benjamin
1938-2022
BENJAMIN, Albert Austin – age 83,
passed away in Grand View Manor, Berwick on Saturday, March 12, 2022.
Born in Greenfield, he was a son of the late Willard Burton Benjamin
and Margaret (Brown) (Benjamin) Whiston.
Albert started work as a roofer with Woodworth
Roofing, and worked as a carpenter and masonry with contractors,
Richard Schofield and Lionel Leopold. He also worked as an independent
masonry, building and repairing chimneys around the valley. His
hobbies including working in the yard, fishing in the summer and
rabbit hunting with his beagle in the winter. He enjoyed spending time
in the barn with his award-winning chickens, whom he showed in
exhibitions all throughout the valley. In his later years, he enjoyed
sitting and watching the birds and squirrels at the
feeders.
Albert is survived by his children, Michael of
South Alton, and Kimberly of Kentville; sister, Nellie Arnburg of New
Minas; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his
parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Edith Elizabeth (Arnburg);
and brothers, Charles, Clayton and
Kenneth.
The family would like to extend their sincere
thanks of appreciation to the staff of Grand View Manor for the
excellent care, love, compassion and support given to Albert during
his time there.
A public graveside service will take place at
2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2022 in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill.
Reverend Ivan Norton officiating. For those unable to attend, a video
webcast of the service will be available at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday,
March 19, 2022. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and
Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice. Funeral
