C’est avec une immense tristesse que nous vous annonçons le décès de M. Alban Levesque domicilié à Burton NB, autrefois du Lac Baker. Il s’est éteint le 14 mai, 2022 à l’Hospice House de Fredericton. Né le 29 janvier, 1965 à Edmundston, NB, il était le fils de Marina (Nadeau) et de feu Albert Levesque.
Il laisse dans la peine, mais également avec de merveilleux souvenirs, son épouse Heather, ses deux beaux-fils Michael (Meagan) et Matthew (Jillian). Il était un merveilleux grand-papa de cinq petits-enfants : Cohen, Lucy, Anderson, Oaklen, et Alvey qu’il aimait de tout cœur, sa mère Marina d’Edmundston, ses frères Sylvain (France) et Pierre, sa sœur Donna, sa nièce Audrey, sa belle-mère Audry Furniss (Herbert), ses beaux-frères Jim Lamont (Linda) et Steven Lamont (Judy) ainsi que plusieurs tantes, oncles, cousins, cousines, nièces et neveux.
Il repose maintenant auprès de son père Albert et de son beau-père James Lamont.
Alban s’est joint aux Forces armées canadiennes en janvier 1985 et fut stationné à Lahr, Chatham, Petawawa, Borden et Gagetown. Il servi à l’étranger durant sa carrière soit en Iran-Iraq, Yugoslavia et en Afghanistan. Il se retira des Forces Régulière en 2013, et redéménagea à Burton, NB, ou il servi avec le 37e Bataillon des services à St-Jean, NB., jusqu’à sa mort. Avec le 37e Bataillon des services, Al apporta une multitude d’expériences et de connaissances à la réserve ou il fut un conseiller de confiance et un mentor. Il participa à de nombreuses activités de grande envergure, dont de nombreux voyages au Labrador. Le souci qu’il avait pour le bien-être de ses soldats était sans précédent.
Alban avait une éthique de travail très forte qui rivaliserait avec des gens faisant la moitié de son âge tout en étant très attaché à sa carrière. Il était farouchement dévoué à sa famille et traitait ses amis comme des membres de sa famille. Il aimait le plein air, travailler dans la cour, camper et passer du temps autour du foyer. Il aimait regarder et encourager ses petits-enfants pendant leurs activités qui comprenaient le hockey, le football, le soccer et la danse.
La famille désire remercier le Dre Luisa Galvis, le Dre Karen Broad, le personnel d’oncologie de l’Hôpital Dr Everett Chalmers, le personnel de l’extra mural à Oromocto, les médecins des soins palliatifs, les infirmières et le personnel de l’Hospice House Fredericton pour leurs excellents soins et pour leurs compassions.
Les visites auront lieu le jeudi 19 mai, 2022, à la Maison funéraire Oromocto de 18h à 20h. Les funérailles aura lieu à la Chapelle St. Mary, BFC Gagetown, le vendredi 20 mai 2022, à 11 h. Une inhumation familiale privée aura lieu aux Oromocto Pioneer Gardens.

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alban Levesque of Burton, NB on May 14th, 2022 at Hospice House Fredericton.
Alban was born on January 29, 1965 in Edmundston, NB, to Albert and Marina (Nadeau) Levesque, and grew up in Lac Baker, NB.
Alban is survived by his loving life partner, Heather, his two stepsons, Michael (Meagan), Matthew (Jillian). He was the most amazing Grampy to five beautiful grandchildren, Cohen, Lucy, Anderson, Oaklen, and Alvey, whom he adored with his whole heart. He is also survived by his mother, Marina of Edmundston, his brothers, Sylvain (France), and Pierre, special niece, Audrey, sister, Donna, mother-in-law Audry Furniss (Herbert), brothers-in-law Jim Lamont (Linda), and Steven Lamont (Judy), as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Albert, and his father-in-law, James Lamont.
Alban joined the Canadian Armed Forces in January 1985, and had postings to Lahr, Chatham, Petawawa, Borden, and Gagetown. He served overseas in Iran-Iraq, Yugoslavia, and Afghanistan during his career. He retired from the Reg Force in 2013, and moved back to Burton, NB where he served with 37 Svc Bn in Saint John, NB., until the time of his death. In 37 Service Battalion, Al brought his wealth of experience and ability to the reserves, where he was a trusted advisor and mentor to many, and participated in numerous high-profile activities, including many trips to Labrador. Al’s concern for the well-being of his soldiers was unparalleled.
Alban had a very strong work ethic that would rival those halves his age, he was very dedicated to his career. He was fiercely dedicated to his family, and treated his friends like family. He enjoyed the outdoors, working in the yard, camping, and spending time around the fire pit. He loved watching and cheering on his grandchildren during their activities, which included hockey, football, soccer, and dance.
As a family, we would like to thank Dr. Luisa Galvis, Dr Karen Broad, the oncology staff at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Extra Mural staff in Oromocto, the Palliative Doctors, nurses, and staff from Hospice House Fredericton for their excellent care and compassion.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 19th, 2022 at Oromocto Funeral Home from 6 – 8 pm. A funeral mass will take place at St. Mary’s Chapel, CFB Gagetown, on Friday, May 20th, 2022, at 11 am. For those unable to attend, a livestream of the Mass will be available at the following link: vimeo.com/710470413. In the event of technical issues, a recording of the service will be available the following day at the same link. A private family interment will be held at the Oromocto Pioneer Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice House Fredericton or Soldier On would be appreciated.
