Helen G Howe 19312022

Helen G. Howe
1931-2022
It is with profound sadness that the family of Helen G. Howe
of French Lake announce her passing on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at
Shannex Neill Hall. She was born to Lawrence and Alice Wood
on April 21, 1931 in Welsford, NB. Helen was a devoted wife
of 71 years to Everett Howe who says that he fell madly in love
“at first glance of her sparkling blue eyes”. She was his
biggest supporter. They raised six children together and
have eight grandchildren. There was nothing that she loved
more than having her loud, rambunctious family around
her.
She was an amazing human who faced life with quiet strength
and grace. She saw people’s hearts. She listened
deeply to the meaning behind words. She accepted things as
they are, not as she wanted them to be. She valued each
person for their strengths and was an
encourager.
She was baptized in 1954 as a Jehovah’s Witness.
She held firm to her faith and walked through life in a way that
served as an example. She practiced her preaching in a
discerning way and met people where they were, never pushy or
judgmental; always listening and responding with understanding and
wisdom. Her hope for the future included a resurrection into
paradise on earth.
“For I well know the thoughts I am thinking toward
you,” declares Jehovah, “thoughts of peace, and not of
calamity, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah
29:11
In addition to her husband, Helen is survived by her
children: Gloria Pouliot (Andre), Oliv (nee Gary), Mark (Kellie Blue),
Matthew (Janice), Paulianne (Brian Higgins); daughter-in-law, Pat; and
grandchildren: Melanie Parker, Justin, Nicholas, Scott,
Ryan, Alanna, and Zachary and Alex Higgins. She also has
many in-laws and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was predeceased by her parents, only sibling, Terry Wood,
and her youngest son, Joel.
Helen had an extended hospital stay at the DECH and
encountered many healthcare workers on many units. She often
commented on the goodness of the nurses who were so gentle and she
especially appreciated those who added a personal touch or a bit of
humor while carrying out their duties. A special thank you to the
doctors who treated her with compassion and great respect for a long
life – those who saw the person within the 90-year-old
body.
Donations can be made to the Arthritis Society or charity of
your choice.
A service, by invitation, will be held via Zoom on Sunday,
April 3, 2022 at 2pm.
