Albert Ellis Hicks
Albert was born (in a neighbour’s house) 1928 February 18, near Eckley, Colorado. He died peacefully 2022 September 8 in Nakusp, B.C. He was the youngest of 9 children born to Mary Neuschwanger & Russell Hicks. He left home at the age of 15, supported himself & completed high school in Meeker, Colorado, & forged a life for himself & his family through determination & hard work. He married the love of his life, Georgia Rose, in 1948, together they had 3 sons.
He left Colorado to pursue his dream of having a farm, & purchased property at Peers, Alberta, & later moved to Fort McMurray to work as a steam engineer in the oil industry. He retired from Suncor in 1985 then moved to Nakusp, where he established a small acreage to keep himself occupied.
Albert leaves behind his loving wife of 73 years, Georgia Rose, & sons: Ken (Barbara) & Mickey; grandsons: Matthew (Fritzy) & Owen, & great grandchild, Rooke.
He was predeceased by his son, Dale, & by all of his siblings: Archie, Nellie, Harold, Viola, Kenneth, Mabel, Wayne, Pearl.
Albert was happy to make Halcyon House his home in November, 2015, & the family wishes to thank the caring staff for their support. Gratitude also extends to the many, caring professionals who have provided assistance to Albert over the years.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to Valley Funeral Home & condolences may be expressed at www.valleyfh.ca.
His favorite bible verse:
John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
