Fenton, Lawrence Henry – age 91, passed away peacefully at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital on September 15, 2022. Born in Yarmouth on March 21, 1931, he was the son of the late William and Mildred (Nichols) Fenton. Lawrence started working at the young age of 15 shovelling coal at Killam’s Wharf, which taught him a good work ethic. He then worked at Dominion Textiles and finally for Yarmouth Fruit Company for many years. He took pride in his farm and raising animals, always providing for his family. Lawrence was a man of great faith and loved the Lord, and was also a man of prayer. He was a member of Rose of Sharon and Evangel Assembly church where he regularly did anything that was asked of him for the service of the Lord. He also volunteered at the Yarmouth Mission and coached kids’ baseball. Lawrence was also known to be a talented boxer. Most of all Lawrence was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and friend to many. He is survived by his children Grace Fenton, Yarmouth; Sandra (Kevin) Meally, Ontario; Bonnie (Bill) Doucette, Yarmouth; Kim (John) Lent, NB; Patrick Fenton, Ontario; Bobby (Pam) Fenton, NB; Peter (Julie) Fenton, Yarmouth; Mike (Connie) Fenton, Yarmouth; Troy Johnson, Halifax; sisters, Lorraine Comeau, Grace Nickerson, Florence Watkins, all of Yarmouth; 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife Frances; son, Tony Fenton; brothers, Billy, Leslie, Fred, Paul, and Allan; and a sister, Marjorie and a sister Beulah who died in infancy . Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 7-9 P.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held Sunday, September 18, 2022, at 2 P.M. from Evangel Assembly church with Rev. Nathan Hill officiating. The service will be live-streamed and available on Evangel Assembly’s Facebook Page. Interment will follow in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of choice.
