Robert “Bob” Allison Steeves
1926-2022
Robert “Bob Allison Steeves, 96,
of Forest Dale Home and formerly of Hillsborough passed away
peacefully on August 21st, 2022 at the home with his close friend
Gayle by his side.
Bob was born in Hillsborough on
February 27th, 1926 the son of the late Allison and Mary Kay (Lauder)
Steeves.
Bob graduated from Hillsborough
Regional High and went on to work in the family business at the
Funeral Home in Hillsborough. He got his Funeral Director &
Embalmer License at a young age and helped out in every way he could.
His personality of being kind and considerate helped him stand out in
caring for the families he served. He enjoyed woodworking and helped
in making the caskets. Following the closure of the funeral home he
became a Health Inspector with the Province of NB. He met and married
the love of his life, Phyllis (Beaumont) and the two had a long life
together. They attended the Hillsborough Baptist Church. He built
their home from the ground up and took great pride in this. He had a
special place in his heart for animals, especially his cat Lucy and
horse, Tom. He appreciated the Harness Racing industry and spent many
days at the track, he filled his time with being a driver and loved
every minute of it. He enjoyed travelling and eating out in
restaurants with his wife and friends. He was happy he got to attend
Expo 67 where he made many memories. Bob was a quiet and humble man
and one of the kindest men you would ever meet. He was small in
stature but had a huge heart. He will be remembered for his sweet
smile as we reminisce about all the good times shared. “Always be
humble and kind”
When he got to Forest Dale Home he was
so content and felt blessed in being treated with such kindness and
support from all the staff, they definitely went above and beyond. A
very special thank you to everyone who helped in his care. Special
thanks to Dr. Richard Morcom and Dr. Ronald Garston for being there
when needed. He was really fortunate to have so many good friends and
people who cared for his well being.
He will be deeply missed by his
sister, Marietta Goodall of Florida; nieces and nephews and cousins.
He will also be missed by some very close friends that were always
there for him, his chosen family ; Gayle Steeves of Hillsborough,
Debbie Steeves (Fred Irving) of Baltimore and their family, Wally
McLean of Moncton, Allison Macaulay of Hillsborough and Darrel and
Terry Petley of NS.
Besides his parents he was predeceased
by his beloved wife, Phyllis; brother, Ralph (Dawn); brother-in-law,
Martin Goodall
There will be a time of visitation to
celebrate his life at the Albert County Funeral Home on Tuesday,
August 23rd from 6-8pm. There will be words of comfort and words of
committal at 7:30pm. During Visitation refreshments will be served in
the reception area of the funeral home. Interment will be in the
Grey’s Island Cemetery, Hillsborough, NB.
For those who wish, donations in Bob’s
Memory to the CARMA (Cat Rescue) would be greatly
appreciated.
