Winnie Allen 2021

Sarah Winnifred “Winnie” Allen (nee Beresford), of Hanover, passed away peacefully at McVean Lodge in Hanover on Sunday, November 21, 2021, just 6 days shy of her 91st birthday.
Born in Southampton on November 26,1930 to the late William and Hannah (Chappell) Beresford. Winnie was very athletic throughout her life. She enjoyed Lawn Bowling, but her favourite was playing for the Hanover Jets baseball team with many of her sisters. She worked at the Guarantee Trust and Heintzmans in the office while raising 3 active boys. Winnie loved playing card games and spent many hours playing with family and friends. Upon retirement Winnie and Jack spent their winter’s in Texas.
Survived by children Lee Allen (Judy Swant) of Paisley, Rick (Linda) Allen and Dale (Sheila) Allen both of Hanover. Special grandmother of Tracy (Ben), Joe (Tiffany), Brandon (Krystle), Melissa (Todd), Quinn (Julie) and Reid (Carla) and great grandmother of 12. Fondly remembered by her sisters Lucille “Dutch” Hopkins, Margie Kerr both of Hanover, brothers in law Harv Allen of Hanover, Kerwin Penman of Texas, Bob Jank of Hanover and sister in law Agnes King of Walkerton. She will be remembered in the hearts of her nieces, nephews and their families.
Predeceased by her beloved husband John “Jack” Allen and daughter in law Susan Allen.
Family and friends are invited to a Graveside Service held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Hanover Cemetery. As per COVID regulations, contact tracing will take place. Feel free to bring a lawn chair and a blanket in case of “Grey Bruce” weather. Pastor Lyndsay McGregor officiating.
Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke or to the Diabetes Association would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.
