Obituary of Wayne David Arthur McKnight
McKNIGHT WAYNE – It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Wayne David Arthur McKnight, which occurred unexpectedly after a short illness on Wednesday, January 13th, 2021, at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 85. He was born in St. Stephen , NB on July 20, 1935. He was the son of the late Earl & Ethel (Weatherby) MacKnight.
Wayne is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years Tanya (Calhoun) McKnight, children Tom (Natalie) McKnight, David McKnight, Warren McKnight, Jason (Stacey) McKnight, Betty (Blaine Tapley), Debbie (Wesley Barry), Joanne (Tom Babcock), Jackie Dempsey, Judy (John Quartermain), sister Jeannette Johnson of Oregon, USA,19 grandkids, 23 great grandkids, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Wayne was predeceased by and infant daughter Carol Anne McKnight, sisters Annie Lou LeBlanc and Elizabeth Grant.
Wayne immensely enjoyed being outdoors and being the owner and proprietor of his own tree farm known as McKnight Farms, giving love and care to his Christmas trees for all to enjoy during the holiday season. His passion for this service gave him over 60 years of bringing joy to countless families.
He was a member of the NB Trucking Association, a member of the Teamsters Union. Wayne devoted many years to apple growing. As a teenager he went to work hard and took on a job transporting cattle to Saint John for processing in the industry.
Due to the current situation surrounding the pandemic, there will be no public visitation or service. However, you will be invited to attend the celebration of his life on Saturday January 16th at 4:00 pm which will be live stream broadcasted. Pastor Shureen Mousseau will officiate. Cremation will follow with an interment at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery later in the spring. In lieu of flowers donations to the Childrens Wish Foundation or Charlotte County Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
