Obituary
One journey ends and a new one begins.
I am broken hearted to announce the passing of my husband, my soulmate, and my friend of thirty-three years…
Walter McGinn.
Walter was born in Saint John to his birth mother Cecelia Auclaire and at 18 months was chosen by Paul and Margaret McGinn to be his forever family.
The traits that defined Walter were his great sense of humour (he told the best jokes), his quick wit, generous spirit (he was happy to share his new found knowledge with us…and never boring.) He loved discussing politics & religion and loved Bill Maher’s “Real Time”. He was intelligent and interesting.
He had a love for the finer things in life such as music (almost every genre), wine (boutique or home made) and Glenfiddich Whiskey, He loved making wine and beer and had a wine/beer room that every homemade wine/beer maker would envy.
His true passion was building and woodworking (if I could envision it…he could build it). He loved working with stained-glass and even made me a beautiful glass coffee table and stained-glass picture of “The Lady in Blue”.
He loved technology, and had every gadget going (he was fondly known as “Walter the Gadget Guy”.) Walter loved driving and looked forward to long trips …and we had many.
Walter is survived by his son Paul McGinn and daughter Linda McGinn and her family Samantha & Scott (all of Ontario)
Walt will be very missed by his chosen sister Terri Post (Tom) and her family (Kennebunk, ME):
He will be missed by my son Greg Richard and his children Conor, Lucy & Gregger and my daughter Colleen Richard and her partner Darrell Bartlett.

Walter is predeceased by his parents Paul & Margaret McGinn ; sisters Marka Hennessy and Patrica Murphy : his birth mother Cecelia Auclair Syreko and my sister Denise Guimond.
I would like to give a special “Thank You” to Palliative Care Nurses Amy and Tammy and Blood Service Nurses Erica and Lauren. You were so kind to me and gave such good care and love to Walter in his final days.
Walt and I may not have had it all together…. but together we had it all.
By request, no funeral service will be held at this time. I will have a ‘Celebration of Life’ ceremony later date.
In memory of Walter, go and see a movie, enjoy a glass of wine, and meet up with a friend.
