WYLIE, VIVIAN IRIS (nee Sewell)
Passed away on March 3, 2021 peacefully in her home and surrounded by family, having recently celebrated her 85th birthday. Pre-deceased by her loving husband of over 50 years, Bill. Devoted mother of Bill (Brenda) of Thornhill, Dave (Agnes) of Lisle, Cathy (Ray Krizman) of Guelph and Doug (Sarah) of Edmonton, Alberta. Very proud Grandma of Kristen, Erin and Lianna Wylie, James, Eric and Scott Wylie, Joe and Leah Krizman, Iris and Cassie Wong-Wylie and Scarlett Wylie. Predeceased by her grandson Teddy Krizman and sister Loraine Rowan. Sister of John Sewell of Toronto and Marion Sewell-Sneyd of Hamilton.
Vivian and Bill raised their family first in North York and eventually in Thornhill, where they lived for over 40 years. A life-changing event occurred in 1980 when they purchased an abandoned heritage home for $1 and had it moved up Yonge Street to its present location on John Street to save it from demolition. Vivian was an active member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Thornhill and in the community at large. Following Bill’s passing, Vivian moved to Guelph where she made many strong friendships and led a vibrant and active life in the Village by the Arboretum. She had a life-long love of travel and visited many countries with Bill, her sisters and friends. She was also very proud of her family and prepared scrapbooks covering the lives of Bill, her children and parents; and as well she wrote close to 50 articles about various family members.
Resting at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel. A private family funeral service will take place. The funeral service will be available on the funeral home website through Zoom on Monday, March 8, 2021 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Vivian’s memory to the Foundation of the Guelph General Hospital St. George’s Anglican Church, Guelph or to Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Thornhill would be appreciated.
